This is how you install your bfs system

The system serves as a network of watering hoses that can be used to fill all battery cells. Accepting pressures from 0.2 to 3.8 bar (3 to 55 psi), it is generally connected to a supply of distilled water after charging. Note: bfs systems can be used at temperatures ranging from –20 °C to +60 °C (–4 °F to 140 °F). However, the watering process itself may be carried out only at temperatures above freezing. The video shows the correct installation of the system in 6 steps.

Correct Installation in 6 Steps

1 Selecting a Plug Type

The type of plug you need depends on the cell opening of your batteries. You’ll find an overview of available bfs plugs here.
2 Selecting a Float

Choosing the correct float is necessary for flawless operation of the system as a whole. Use our float finder to help you choose.
When mounting the float it has to be considered
that the force to lock into the spindle is more than 40N.
3 Installing the Plugs

Depending on their type, plugs have to be either pushed in (push-in plug), tightened with a quarter turn (bayonet plug) or screwed into place (threaded plug). Our special fitting tools make installation even easier.

4 Connecting the Plugs

Water flows to the cells via hoses of two different diameters: a PVC hose of 10 mm inside diameter takes water from the source to the battery, while a PVC hose of 6 mm inside diameter connects the individual plugs with one another. Have a look at the components needed for a system here.
5 Choosing your Water Source

You have the following options for a water supply:
• Gravity water supply
• Pumped water
• Tap water flowing through an ion exchanger
Regardless of the water source, the system accepts pressures from 0.2 to 3.8 bar (2.9 to 55.1 psi).
6 Watering the Battery

The best time to water a battery is toward the end of the charge process. Please note: Never top up a battery with distilled water before charging it. When watering is completed – and all indicators are located in the upper position – the water supply must be interrupted without delay.

Water Supply Options

1 Gravity Water from a Tank

The difference in height between the bottom edge of the water tank and the top edge of the battery should be at least 2 m (6.5 ft). The resulting pressure is 0.2 bar (3 psi).
2 Pumped Water

Stationary and mobile water units are available to provide pumped water.
3 Passing Tap Water through an Ion Exchanger

Tap water can be deionized using an ion exchanger. The system output pressure has to be in the range of 0.2 to 3.8 bar (3 to 55 psi).
